Inspired by Eustacia, the most Gothic and enigmatic of all Hardy's rich complex characters. Double-sided (both 'front' and 'back' identically patterned), this is a very large pendant and such a statement piece, with a wonderfully sensuous, fluid, graceful drop, all subtle curves and indents juxtaposing that refined but striking point. The discreet separation through the centre gives breath and shape, helping lift the contours. The patterning texture is pitted with clustered pointwork, breaking the uniformity. The overt but clean lines give a sophistication which is undercut by the heavy brooding oxide, a meld of Gothic and Victoriana with contemporary styling. Bold, lithe, sexy and intricate. Hung on an 18 inch belcher chain. 65mm x 25mm and 1.5mm thick.
