Do you accept "Custom Orders"?
Yes - I am, currently, accepting Custom Orders. I will try my utmost to accommodate each request, however, being a sole trader, I do have to limit the number available each season. (You can sign up for silverskin alerts on Instagram and Facebook. You can also join the silverskin mailing list for regular updates).
You can send through your ideas/request/enquiry via the Contact page or email. I will then contact you via email to discuss further details – cost, design, etc – and give an honest appraisal as to whether I can fulfil your request. If you are relatively local, I can also arrange to meet in person to talk through the design. Once agreed, I will provide a breakdown of cost and the final quote. A deposit will usually be required (50% of the total cost), however this can be discussed as appropriate. Production time will depend on the nature of the design but you should allow a minimum of eight weeks (although some designs can take three months or more). I will keep you updated on the progress throughout.
If I feel that I cannot, for whatever reason, fulfil your request, I will always try and recommend suitable alternative jewellers to approach and sound them out on your idea.
Do you make wedding rings?
I can accept commissions for wedding rings in sterling silver, fine silver, yellow/white/rose gold. Please refer to the above information on Custom Orders on how to best discuss your commission.
Where can I buy your jewellery?
silverskin jewellery can be purchased securely through the silverskin website - payment via PayPal - and occasionally via the Instagram page. There is currently no High Street presence. There may be "pop-up" shops and markets in the future and this information will be updated when necessary.
What do you have on sale at the moment?
Everything available is listed in the Shop. I try to provide four Collections/year, roughly to coincide with the seasons, the release date of which will always be widely advertised on this website, Instagram and Facebook. When nothing appears available on the website, it means everything is sold out and I am working on the future Collection. You can sign up for silverskin alerts on Instagram and Facebook. You can also join the silverskin mailing list for regular updates.
Is everything on your Instagram page for sale?
Unless an Instagram post specifically states that a particular item is available and being promoted, you should always check with the Shop page on the silverskin website for what is available/in a current Collection.
Can I reserve pieces? Can I pre-order something from the next Collection?
I do not hold/reserve pieces that are currently on sale. I do not take pre-orders for pieces in future Collections, which you may see in development on Instagram and Facebook. The release date for each Collection will be widely advertised via the silverskin website and social media. You can sign up for silverskin alerts on Instagram and Facebook. You can also join the silverskin mailing list for regular updates.
Do you offer buy now/pay later or part-payment?
No. Payment must always be in full, up-front for all Shop pieces. (The only exception is Custom Orders, whereby a 50% deposit is usually required prior to the piece being made and the remainder on completion).
What is your jewellery made from and how should I care for it?
I use EcoSilver sheet, wire and solder (100% recycled .925 sterling silver). All pieces are handmade and hand finished, to last you a lifetime and beyond. To best prolong the quality and longevity of your jewellery, try to avoid wearing when swimming, playing sport, gardening, doing DIY or in contact with chemicals, such as household cleaning agents, etc. If you are storing your jewellery for any length of time, it is advisable to wrap it in tissue/cloth and seal it in an airtight bag to prevent oxidation.
When cleaning your jewellery, never use commercial chemical jewellery-cleaners, which invariably weaken the metal and can also damage precious/semi-precious stones. Simply wash in mild soapy water (washing-up liquid is fine), rinse and wipe clean. Then lightly polish with a soft polishing cloth, which can be purchased for as little as £2/3 from most high-street jewellers, department stores, Amazon/Ebay, etc. You can also use a glasses-lense cloth.
Do you offer jewellery repairs?
If you purchase a piece made and sold by silverskin which, for whatever reason, requires repairing, I will do everything I can to best bring it back to its original state. Simply contact me via the Contact page or email with as much detail as you can (photographs are especially useful). Please note that, due to the nature of how some of the jewellery is made, repairs cannot always be accommodated. Resizing of rings is often trickier than many might lead you to believe but may be possible if the sizes are close. I can also consider repairs on jewellery that I myself did not make but this is very much on a case-by-case basis, not least as I will have no knowledge of the original making-process, materials used, etc.
If you have scratched, tarnished, marked jewellery which you want bringing back to brilliance and shine, I can certainly emery/polish this back to something approaching its original splendour. This will be done safely and carefully, with no chemicals/coarse abrasives. Please contact me via the Contact page or email with as much detail as you can and any pictures you think might be useful.
I ship worldwide. All orders, both UK and International, are despatched via Royal Mail . There will be options at checkout for UK 1st Class; 1st Class Signed-For (both uninsured); UK Special Delivery Guaranteed (insured), International Standard (not tracked); International Tracked & Signed (tracked). Please note that Australian customs does not accept jewellery via post (oddly there is no prohibition on jewellery entering the country by other means but it is prohibited to enter Australia via their postal service...). If posting to Australia, therefore, I will mark and categorise the order as something other than jewellery.
Returns & Refunds
I consider returns on an individual, case-by-case basis. If you think you need to return a piece, unused and pristine, please first contact me via the Contact page or email to discuss the options/issues. Return delivery/shipping is the customer’s responsibility. I will not consider returns on damaged pieces or those already worn. Please see the RETURNS policy at checkout for further details.
